San Jose building is bought by group linked to 3D anatomy tech company

SAN JOSE — A group linked to the top boss of a South Bay company that creates advanced 3D technologies to visualize the human anatomy has bought a San Jose office building that was sold by a veteran real estate firm.

An affiliate led by the chief executive officer of tech company Anatomage has paid $27.8 million for a large office building at 3750 Zanker Road in San Jose, documents filed on Feb. 27 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office show.

Jack Choi, chief executive officer of Santa Clara-based Anatomage, is listed as the manager or member of the affiliate, which is based at the same office where Anatomage has its headquarters, state business documents show.

The building was sold by an affiliate of South Bay Development and is one of several buildings that the real estate firm bought in December 2025 from tech titan Cisco Systems for an overall price of $63 million.

Anatomage has developed what it describes on its website as technologies for “digitizing real human bodies into interactive, fully functional 3D cadavers.”

“Bringing cadavers to life” is one of the tech capabilities touted by Anatomage, according to the company’s website.

The deal is a reminder that the Bay Area tech industry continues to find ways to expand even at a time when the region’s tech companies are undergoing a wide-ranging restructuring that eliminated 137,200 jobs from 2023 through 2025, including 27,300 last year, according to estimates that Beacon Economics derived from official state government reports.

In recent days, OpenAI signed a Mountain View lease that will enable the artificial intelligence dynamo to launch a big expansion into the South Bay.

The expansions by AI companies have been major catalysts in filling up a modern office building next to Santana Row in west San Jose and two brand-new office buildings in downtown Sunnyvale.

In the wake of the just-completed office deal in north San Jose, it wasn’t immediately clear how Anatomage might use the office building that its CEO’s affiliate now owns. This news organization reached out to Anatomage to seek a comment.

The 3750 Zanker building totals 151,400 square feet, according to the PropertyShark commercial real estate database. That’s large enough to accommodate roughly 600 to 750 workers, depending on how hypothetical workspaces are configured.
