Is Trader Joe’s open on Easter?

Trader Joe’s doesn’t sell Easter brunch meal deals the way some other grocers, such as Kroger and Safeway, do, but shoppers can find everything from eggs and honey-baked hams to pastries and all the ingredients you need to make a mimosa.

So if you haven’t quite finished all your grocery shopping for your Easter brunch or dinner yet, you might be wondering if your local Trader Joe’s location is open, given that many major grocers either close entirely or operate on limited hours on the holiday.

That’s why many shoppers find themselves asking the same question each spring: Is Trader Joe’s open on Easter?

Most Trader Joe’s locations will be open on Easter Sunday, giving customers a chance to pick up last-minute groceries, chocolate Easter eggs, flowers or other seasonal favorites.

So the answer is yes — but with a small caveat.

“For your Easter festivities, we have Uncured Spiral Sliced HamsFour Cheese Scalloped PotatoesHaricot Verts, and lots and lots of Candy!” the company’s website says.

“And this year, you’ll have more time on Easter to pick up your favorites. All Trader Joe’s locations will be open regular hours on Sunday, April 5, with one exception: Trader Joe’s Portland, Maine, which will be closed.”

Almost all Trader Joe’s stores will be open on Easter Sunday.

Trader Joe’s holiday hours

Unlike some major retailers that close completely for Easter, Trader Joe’s remains open on its usual schedule — a move that reflects its broader approach to holiday scheduling.

The company only closes stores three days each year: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

On some holidays, Trader Joe’s may close early the night before, including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Since food prices are up 4.8% over the year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, plenty of folks are looking for a place where they can get the most value for every dollar, and at Trader Joe’s, prices for staples like milk and eggs are competitive with warehouse stores like Costco, without the need for a membership.

Americans will be spending a record amount for the 2026 Easter holiday, about $24.9 billion, per the National Retail Federation. That includes $3.9 billion on gifts, $3.5 billion on candy, and $2.2 billion on flowers. On a per-person basis, shoppers are budgeting a record high of $195.59, up from $192.01 in 2023.
