KZN’s iconic Isandlwana Lodge up for auction

Local and international buyers are already said to be lining up to acquire Isandlwana Lodge, one of KwaZulu-Natal’s storied and strategically positioned hospitality properties, located in the province’s historic Battlefields area.

The lodge has been put up for auction as its founding owner is set to retire. The auction will take place later this month.

Today, the Battlefields draws historians, military scholars and travellers from across the world and rank among the most visited heritage corridors in sub-Saharan Africa.

Some notable guests to visit the site since the lodge opened its doors in 1999 include the late AmaZulu monarch King Zwelithini, former US President Jimmy Carter, and members of various European royal families.

The 4.7 hectare estate, which can accommodate up to 26 guests in 14 luxury en-suite bedrooms, is being sold as a going concern.

Amenities also on offer include a library, conferencing area, gym, curio shop and swimming pool, along with staff and management housing, a 12-seater game vehicle for heritage tours, a generator room, and borehole for backup water supply.

“It combines well-maintained hospitality infrastructure with a heritage setting that is impossible to replicate,” says Norman Raad, CEO of Broll Auctions and Sales.
