Uber Eats will now deliver more than just food to you

Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER) keeps giving you more reasons to keep coming back. Ever needed a last-minute tool for a home repair, but didn’t want to make the trip? That problem might be disappearing faster than you think. Uber is expanding beyond food delivery in a big way, and its latest move could change how people shop for everyday essentials.

The company’s Uber Eats platform has partnered with Ace Hardware to bring thousands of local hardware stores directly to customers’ doorsteps. Uber Eats operates as a U.S.-based online food-ordering and delivery service launched in 2014, with headquarters in San Francisco, California.

On the other hand, Ace Hardware Corporation is a 102-year-old U.S.-based hardware retailer’s cooperative headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, and the largest non-grocery retail cooperative in the country.

“Ace is built on a network of locally-owned stores that are deeply rooted in the communities they serve, and partnering with Uber allows us to meet our customers wherever they are,” said Bill Kiss, Head of Digital at Ace Hardware.

This isn’t just another partnership. It’s part of a broader shift in how consumers expect convenience. Fast, on-demand, and increasingly digital. From groceries to electronics, and now home improvement supplies, Uber is positioning itself as a one-stop delivery platform.

Uber Eats expands into hardware delivery with Ace partnership

Uber’s latest deal brings more than 3,700 Ace Hardware locations across all 50 states onto the Uber Eats platform. That means customers can now order everything from paint supplies to gardening tools with just a few taps.

Here’s how it works:

  • Open the Uber Eats app and go to “Home & DIY.”
  • Select a nearby Ace Hardware store.
  • Browse products and add items to the cart.
  • Choose on-demand or scheduled delivery.
  • Track the order in real time.

It’s a simple process. But the implications are bigger than they seem. This move gives Uber access to a massive network of locally owned stores, while helping Ace reach customers who increasingly prefer delivery over in-store visits.

Timing also matters here. Consumers are no longer using delivery apps just for meals. They want convenience across every category. Especially for urgent needs like home repairs or weekend projects.

So, here is a question for you to entertain for a couple of minutes. Is Uber quietly becoming the Amazon of local delivery? That won’t be a surprise.

Uber Eats growth shows strong momentum beyond food delivery

This partnership comes as Uber’s delivery business continues to post impressive growth. In the fourth quarter of 2025, reported on February 04, 2026, Uber delivered:

  • Revenue growth of 20% Year-over-Year (YoY) to $14.4 billion.
  • The delivery segment reported a 30% revenue surge  in Q4.
  • $54.1 billion in gross bookings, up 22% YOY.
  • Over $2.5 billion in adjusted EBITDA, up 35% YOY.

Even more notable? The segment surpassed a $190 billion annual run rate in gross bookings. A clear sign of scale.

“Our performance this year reflects the significant power of our platform strategy, with $193 billion in Gross Bookings and $10 billion in free cash flow,” said Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah, CFO

Uber’s strategy is straightforward. Expand beyond food and increase how often users open the app. And it’s working. The company has been aggressively adding new retail partners, bringing more than 50,000 retail locations in the U.S. onto the platform in 2025 alone.

So where does Ace Hardware fit in? It adds a new category, home improvement, that customers often need urgently, making it ideal for on-demand delivery.

Uber targets $1 billion boost with 2026 European expansion

Beyond delivery, Uber’s overall platform is seeing strong momentum. The company reported 3.8 billion trips in Q4 2025, up 22% year-over-year, more than 200 million monthly active users, and over 40 million trips completed daily.

That level of engagement gives Uber a powerful advantage. The more people use the app for rides, food, and now retail, the more embedded it becomes in everyday life.

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi summed it up clearly. Uber is aiming to become a central platform for mobility, delivery, and eventually autonomous transportation.

“Uber accelerated into another record-breaking quarter, with more than 200 million monthly users completing more than 40 million trips every day, our largest and most engaged consumer base ever,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO. “We enter 2026 with a rapidly growing topline, significant cash flow, and a clear path to becoming the largest facilitator of AV trips in the world.”

Uber targets $1 billion boost with 2026 European expansion

According to Reuters, Uber Technologies is planning a major push into Europe in 2026, expanding its Uber Eats business into seven new markets. The rollout will include the Czech Republic, Greece, Romania, Austria, Denmark, Finland, and Norway, according to a company spokesperson.

The expansion is expected to generate an additional $1 billion in gross bookings over the next three years, reflecting growing demand for delivery services across the region.

“We’re seeing strong demand from merchants and consumers for Uber’s platform – and ‌we think it’s time to raise the bar, shake things up and deliver better value across the category,” said Susan Anderson, Uber’s global head of delivery.

In a related move, Uber recently agreed to acquire the delivery arm of Getir from its Emirati controlling shareholder, Mubadala, further strengthening its presence in Turkey.

Uber is expected to report its next earnings on May 6, 2026, which could offer more insight into how these strategies are playing out. Delivery with Uber is no longer just about food. It’s about convenience, getting anything you need, when you need it.
