KFC, Wingstop, and more roll out promotions for 4/20

April 20 has become one of the most reliable one-day traffic events in the restaurant calendar. This year’s lineup is the largest yet.

Chains from sandwich shops to cookie brands are using the date to push value deals, limited-time menu items, and delivery promos. All of it is aimed at customers looking for indulgent food.

The trend reflects a broader shift. Recreational marijuana is now legal in 24 states and Washington D.C. Nearly 20% of Americans report using it, according to the CDC, as reported by Nation’s Restaurant News. That is a large and growing consumer base that restaurants are actively trying to reach.

  • 76-year-old comfort food chain closes most of its restaurants
  • Fast food giant is coming for Starbucks with fan-approved launch

Meanwhile, 54% of American adults now consume alcohol. That is the lowest share in 90 years of Gallup polling, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.

Cannabis culture is becoming more mainstream just as alcohol’s hold on the occasion market loosens. That is one reason 4/20 promotions keep growing.

What restaurants have 4/20 promotions in 2026?

The deals span comfort food, pizza, chicken, dessert, and tacos. Most are tied to app orders, delivery minimums, or loyalty programs, which makes 4/20 useful for restaurants beyond a single day of sales.

Below is a breakdown of what each brand is offering:

4/20 restaurant deals for 2026:

  • Cheba Hut: $4.20 Nugs (its signature four-inch toasted subs) all day April 20, plus limited-edition commemorative Frisbees while supplies last. The nearly 85-unit chain, founded in 1998, bills itself as the first marijuana-themed “joint.”
  • Tijuana Flats: Say “Roll me a fat one” in-store April 20 to receive 20% off the entire order. Free delivery on orders of $35 or more from April 19-21.
  • &pizza: Bringing back its cult-favorite Dickle, a dill-pickle-topped pizza, as part of a five-day promotion running through April 20. Also offering $4.20 deals on pizzas and Little Dippers.
  • KFC: Three deals on April 20: a $4.20 Pot Pie Combo with a drink; a $20 Chick N’ Nug Meal with 12 nuggets, two large sides, and four biscuits; and a 2 for $2.95 deal on original or extra crispy chicken.
  • Velvet Taco: The 420 Blazin’ WTF taco is back through April 21 for $4.20. It includes Flamin’ Hot Cheetos chicken tenders, mac and cheese, red flamin’ chile aioli, and Fruity Pebbles in a flour tortilla.
  • BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: Its signature Pizookie (a pizza-sized cookie topped with ice cream, served in a skillet) for $4.20 on April 20. Pizookies typically cost $8 to $10.
  • Insomnia Cookies: Partnered with Hostess for a limited-edition lineup including the Cloud 9 Cravings Classic and Strawberry Toastie Filled Classic. Rewards members can buy four classic cookies and get two free on in-store and pickup orders from April 18-20, with surprise perks on April 20.
  • Wingstop: The return of the Hot Box, a themed combo built around wings or tenders, fries, dip, and a drink.
  • Fatburger: Original Fatburger for $4.20 on April 20 at participating locations.
  • Del Taco: Buy-one-get-one-free Carne Asada Fries from April 17-20 for rewards members, plus free delivery on orders of $20 or more.
  • Jimmy John’s: The Dream Rotation Menu, featuring a Toasted Sandwich, Jimmy Chips, and the new Cereal n’ Milk Crispy Treat. The campaign includes celebrity appearances from Cheech Marin, among others.

Why restaurants celebrate 4/20

The appeal for chains is straightforward. April 20 comes with a built-in consumer mindset: indulgent food, convenience, and value. Restaurants do not have to explain why the promotion exists. Customers already understand the theme.

The digital dimension is equally important. Most of these deals are tied to app ordering, delivery minimums, or loyalty memberships. That turns a one-day campaign into a customer acquisition tool.

Chains that get a new user to download their app or join their rewards program on April 20 can market to that person long after the holiday passes.

4/20 has stopped being a niche marketing moment. It is now a mainstream retail event, on par with Valentine’s Day or National Pizza Day for quick-service brands.

This year’s lineup spans at least 11 national chains. That is the clearest sign yet that the date is a fixture on the restaurant marketing calendar.
