Peter de Villiers appointed Attacq’s permanent finance chief

Attacq Limited, the owners of Mall of Africa and developers of Waterfall City in Gauteng, has confirmed the appointment of Peter de Villiers as its permanent Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and head of Attacq Treasury, a subsidiary, with effect from 1 June 2026.

The company announced the leadership changes in a JSE Sens statement on Thursday, alongside the appointment of Sureya Scheepers as company secretary of Attacq Treasury, succeeding De Villiers in the role.

The appointment follows De Villiers’ tenure as interim CFO since December 2025, after previous CFO Raj Nana resigned in November to take up an executive role as CFO of data centre giant Teraco.

Attacq says his appointment follows a “thorough recruitment process” adding that its “board looks forward to Peter’s continued contributions to the company”.

The group says a fit and proper assessment was conducted, and the board was satisfied with the outcome. It notes that the appointment was made in-line with Attacq’s policy governing the nomination of directors across the company and its subsidiaries.

De Villiers has been with Attacq since March 2013 and has held several senior leadership roles within the business, including serving on the executive committee as head of asset management (international). He was later appointed chief investment officer in 2018.

He completed a BCom Accounting Sciences degree at the University of Pretoria and his his articles at Deloitte, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2002.

Before joining Attacq, he worked at Deloitte Corporate Finance, BJM Corporate Finance Proprietary Limited, and One Capital.
